The Newport News Public Library provides public computers at each of its three branches - Grissom, Main Street, and Pearl Bailey. These computers have the following software installed:
- Microsoft Office 2016, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Windows 10
Printers are also available at all libraries. Black and white printing is $0.20 per page and color printing is $0.50 per page.
What You Need
In order to use a public computer at one of our branches, you need to have a Newport News library card in good standing, establish a PIN/password number via the Library Payment Center and agree to abide by the Computers and Acceptable Use Policy for Internet Access (PDF). There is one computer at each branch that can be reserved up to one week in advance. Reservation can be made by phone or in person.
Guest passes are available for visitors. Passes are only good for the day and cost $1.00.
Accessibility Options
Patrons with disabilities or special needs may request the use of a high contrast keyboard and trackball. All computers in the labs are equipped with NVDA screen reading software for the visually impaired.
